All StarZ at the NHRMA Conference!

All StarZ will join PACE Staffing Network, our affiliate company, at the Northwest Human Resource Management Association (NHRMA) Conference starting September 7th. All StarZ, PACE Staffing Network, and our local network partners are getting ready to be one of the conference’s premier exhibitors.

The 78th annual NHRMA conference, will be held this year at the Meydenbauer Convention Center September 7-9. The conference is open to Human Resource professionals, and registration is on track to attract hundreds of people from all over Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

We are celebrating being local. All StarZ Staffing and PACE Staffing Network are home grown – locally-owned and locally-operated. We got our start right here, and we’re committed to making a difference because we care what goes on in our neighborhood and with our local economy.

We’ve planned some very Northwest give aways, including a drawing for some high profile Northwest adventures. Find us at booth #208/309. We look forward to seeing our clients and friends during three days of action-packed education and entertainment.

Safety Matters!

All StarZ celebrated National Safety Month to raise awareness of workplace safety. Safety is a core All StarZ specialty, and we work with our clients to keep the team safe and ensure compliance with the ever-changing landscape of safety regulations, both on a state and federal level.

We bring our safety expertise to our clients in a number of ways. We offer safety consulting on safety topics, review safety programs, and work to ensure understanding of dual employer responsibilities. We attend client safety committee meetings and serve as guest speakers or bring in guest speakers on targeted safety topics. We have access to a wide range of educational material and assist our clients in making safety campaigns informative and fun.

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), regulations supersede federal regulations. Did you know:

• Washington employers have the obligation to ensure compliance with not only federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations but also Washington State safety regulations. State workplace safety regulations may be more protective than federal standards.
• Both employers and staffing agencies are required to have a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Analysis completed and on file for each position in the company. We provide our clients with Washington State PPE Analysis templates and coach them on how the forms are filled out so we all have a better understanding of how to protect employees from workplace hazards.

There’s a lot to know about temporary worker safety. To assist in raising awareness, OSHA just issued several Temporary Worker Bulletins for host employers and staffing agencies. OSHA recently published bulletins on Recordkeeping, Personal Protective Equipment, Whistleblower Protection Rights, Safety and Health Training, and Hazard Communication, and additional bulletins are forthcoming. Want more information? We can forward any of these new bulletins to you.

We’re keeping a close eye on state and federal safety regulations. Our Director of Human Resources, Joyce Matson, is currently serving on the national American Staffing Association (ASA) Health and Safety Committee as well as the national OSHA ASA Temporary Worker Alliance. She has had the opportunity to provide advance input to OSHA on proposed bulletins and direct temporary worker safety policies at a national level. As the 2016 Chair of the new Washington State ASA Council, Joyce is committed to helping staffing agencies understand their temporary worker safety obligations and is helping to facilitate a dialog between ASA member companies and the Washington Department of Labor on key topics. Joyce is happy to share her recent Safety Summit presentation on Temporary Labor and Dual Employer Responsibilities – just drop her an email at joyce@allstarzstaffing.com!

All StarZ Staff Honor National Autism Awareness Month

The CDC’s updated estimate of autism prevalence in the United States has risen to 1 in every 68 children. In a ten year span, the number of children reported to be affected by autism has increased dramatically. In 2004, it was reported as being 1 in every 125 children. These staggering statistics highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism.

Each April, the Autism Society celebrates National Autism Awareness Month as a special opportunity to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community. You will see All StarZ staff sporting blue wristbands this month in recognition of this important subject. Autism speaks, we listen – it’s personal for us.

World Autism Awareness Day

as_blogo_horz_web1

Join All StarZ Staffing in recognizing World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD), which is celebrated on April 2 annually. The WAAD was adopted by the United Nations in 2007 to shine a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis and to increase world knowledge of the autism crisis and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of persons with autism and is a day when individuals with autism are warmly welcomed and embraced in community events around the globe. Autism is one of only three health issues to be recognized by the United Nations with its own day. Light it Up Blue offers information and resources on autism at http://liub.autismspeaks.org/welcome.

You can follow Wil Kerner’s website at http://www.wilspapercutouts.com, which is devoted to uplifting the spirits of families living with autism and to enlighten public perceptions of all differently abled people.
